One person was killed and three people, including an infant, were injured in a two-vehicle crash this morning in the westbound lanes of Highway 417 near Kinburn Side Road.
“Shortly before 9:30 a.m., a vehicle crossed the centre median of Highway 417 just west of Kinburn Road,” said Ottawa OPP spokesperson Const. Michael Fathi. “A collision occurred in the westbound lanes as a result.”
Fathi confirmed that two females and an infant were transported to local area hospitals for treatment.
He said he could not confirm the age or identity of the person killed.
“The OPP Technical Collision Investigators are on site and conducting their investigation into the collision. It is too early in the investigation to know which charges, if any, will be laid,” said Fathi.
The Tuesday, May 14 crash closed both the westbound and eastbound lanes of Highway 417 for several hours. At 2:30 p.m., the eastbound lanes had reopened but westbound lanes were still closed.
More information will be provided when it becomes available.
