The latest data suggests that there might be some momentum building in the local real estate market.
The Renfrew County Real Estate Board’s April recap says the 151 units sold last month were down 5.6% against April 2023, but the 455 homes sold over the start of 2024 are a 23.3% gain against that same time period last year.
That was buoyed by a sharp climb in residential listings: 297 units went on the market in April, and there were 458 active listings at the end of the month, marking 23% and 29% improvements, respectively, compared to last year and a return to market numbers last seen at the start of the pandemic.
The cost of owning a home in Renfrew County remains red hot, though, with the year-to-date average up 13.7 % to $476,833. That might be why the value of homes bought over the previous month rose 6.6% to a total of $74.7 million.
