The Town of Petawawa celebrated the exceptional community involvement of nine young individuals by presenting them with Outstanding Student Citizenship Awards. The awards were handed out during the town council meeting on Monday night, June 17th, 2024.
Petawawa Mayor Gary Service and Tracey Service presented the awards. It was Tracey Service’s first time presenting the awards, and she expressed her happiness at seeing so many bright young people in Petawawa.
“The outstanding student citizenship awards are not based on grades, but on community involvement,” said Tracey Service. Mayor Service echoed her sentiments, expressing pride in the young recipients and confidence that they will make a difference in the world through their education and volunteer work in Petawawa.
In the past 17 years, approximately 120 students have been recognized in Petawawa. This year, one of the award recipients was Clara Lemoine, a Grade 12 student at École Secondaire Jeanne Lajoie. Lemoine was honored for her exceptional contributions to her school and community. Lemoine encouraged future award winners by stating, “Helping out others is nothing but a fun time and a good feeling.”
Mayor Service extended his warm regards to the recipients and welcomed them back to Petawawa at any time.
