Rain did not stop a determined group of 120 golfers from hitting the links for the 17th annual Renfrew County Warden’s Golf Tournament on June 7.
The fundraising tournament, hosted by Renfrew County Warden Peter Emon, was held at the Dragonfly Golf Links at Renfrew in Admaston/Bromley Township. The participants enjoyed 18 holes of golf, fun contests along the way, lunch on the go, and appetizers to finish the day, all while helping to raise $5,000 for two special causes in the community.
The first recipient is Autism Ontario – East Region, while the second recipient is the County of Renfrew’s Housing and Homelessness Fund to help deal with this pressing and growing issue in our community.
The Warden expressed his gratitude to the golfers who endured the rain and came prepared with multiple outfits to suit the changing conditions throughout the day, the sponsors who contributed to the overall success of the day and the staff of the Dragonfly Golf Links for helping to make the day so special.
Since its inception in 2005, the Warden’s Golf Tournament has raised nearly $70,000 for various charities and organizations across Renfrew County.
“We, and our entire region, continue to be extremely appreciative of your generous contributions throughout the day towards these two funds, they will offer valuable assistance to our community members who need reassurance they are noticed and matter,” Warden Emon said.
Once the scores were tallied, a familiar team took home the trophy – The Sweetness Dream Team – which shot a 59 on the day. The team consisted of former Warden Bob Sweet, Brad Sweet, Peter Barnes and Bob Lafleur.
Organizers thanked all the generous sponsors who made the tournament possible.
