Pembroke is gearing up for an exhilarating Canada Day celebration, featuring two days filled with action, entertainment, and family-friendly activities. The festivities kick off on Sunday, June 30th, at Riverside Park with the free Roseburg Forest Products’ Great Canadian Lumberjack Show. Attendees can experience the thrill of axe throwing, log rolling, chainsaw carving, and intense competitions. Showtimes are at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
After enjoying the Lumberjack Festival, the fun continues at Riverside Park with an array of evening activities starting at 5:30 p.m. Families can indulge in a free BBQ, participate in Kung Fu lessons, meet beloved movie characters, watch a Bird of Prey show, and sign up for a Human Foosball game. There will also be live music by Stereotypical and an opportunity to create your own tie-dye shirt to wear during the Canada Day celebrations. As the night winds down, bring a blanket and enjoy a free screening of “Kung Fu Panda 4” on soccer field number four, complete with complimentary popcorn.
The excitement continues on July 1st with a plethora of activities at Waterfront Park from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Highlights include trampoline shows by the Spring Action group from Ottawa, a variety of food and craft vendors, a kid zone featuring face painting and continuous kids shows, free 30-minute boat rides at the Marina, and a petting zoo.
From 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the celebration moves to the Legion, where attendees can enjoy music and a delicious BBQ. The menu features an 8oz striploin steak for $30 per person and a chicken breast for $20 per person.
To conclude this year’s Canada Day festivities, bring your chairs to Riverside Park for an evening of live music and fireworks. Ghost Town Cryers will perform starting at 7:30 p.m., building anticipation for the grand fireworks display at dusk.
For safety reasons, the city advises attendees to move behind the Kiwanis Pathway towards the soccer fields before 10:00 p.m. to ensure a safe distance from the fireworks. Pembroke’s Canada Day celebration promises to be a memorable event for all ages, with a perfect blend of action, entertainment, and community spirit.
