Art is alive and well in the Town of Renfrew, thanks in no small part to Art Factory owner Patrick John Mills, who this weekend is hosting the fourth annual Art Fair at his Bridge Street business.
More than 60 artists are expected to be involved in the event, with skills and works of art that encompass “just about anything.”
The fair – and most everything done at the Art Factory – underlines the fact that art should be for everyone, said Mills.
Mills purposely makes the registration process affordable and easy for participating artists, as well as comfortable for those who might be new to the process.
Mills purchased the H. Imbleau & Sons building and converted it into the Art Factory, opening the art supply store in 2019 and subsequently working away on additions that include a warehouse/studio, Heart in Hand World Boutique and more.
With all that he’s accomplished in the art world and as a community booster, as well as personally (having recovered from a series of serious health ailments that nearly ended his life in the past several years), does Mills ever stand back and take stock of his impressive success?
Mills said that just waking up, having breakfast, walking and breathing, are a gift. Everything else is abundance.
What he aspires to, with the hopes of inspiring others, is to exude kindness that will have a ripple effect on others.
The weather has been good for all of the past events and there is once again sun in the forecast.
The Art Fair is free to attend, wheelchair accessible, and everyone is invited, said Mills.
The nominal registration requirement of a minimum $20 donation helps fund some of the many events and activities at the Art Factory, including the A Team, a free weekly art session for area youth.
The Art Fair is this Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Art Factory at 11 Bridge St. In Renfrew.
