CHEO, the Ottawa-based children’s hospital, has launched its first-ever national marketing campaign, “Kids These Days,” on August 5, 2024. This initiative highlights the urgent health risks facing children in Canada today, including limited access to primary and emergency care, mental health challenges, substance abuse, food insecurity, poor nutrition, abuse, poverty, inadequate housing, bullying, and so much more.
Steve Read President and CEO, CHEO Foundation spoke with myFM about their new campaign and explain why they decided to launch it.
The campaign underscores the growing concern among Canadians, with over 80 percent worried about the long delays in accessing critical health care services for children and youth. CHEO’s “Kids These Days” campaign aims to bring these issues to the forefront and advocate for better healthcare solutions for the next generation. Read explains some of the projects that are on the way to help create a better atmosphere for children who need treatment.
Over the next decade, CHEO plans to remodel, reimagine, and expand its services to meet the growing and increasingly complex healthcare needs of children and youth. As part of its strategic vision, CHEO is committed to reducing by 50 percent the number of children waiting for services beyond clinically recommended timeframes. Read tells myFM more about the Innovative Treatment Centre.
CHEO is committed to making sure children receive the best care, Read explains that is something they will continue to do as the population grows.
