It might be the one time where bringing your own food into a McDonalds would be welcome.
The McDonalds locations in Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke and Petawawa will be accepting donations for our local food banks throughout the day on Tuesday, October 1st.
Francesca Rakinic, who is the Operations Supervisor for the Ottawa Valley, has a lot of faith that our community will knock the assignment out of the park.
Rakinic says the food bank officials she’s been in contact with have asked specifically for items like peanut butter, soups, canned fruit and meat, as well as items that would work well for kids school lunches like juice boxes. They would also appreciate Thanksgiving-themed items that would help make the day special for their clients.
No specific goal has been set, but Rakinic points how that all four McDonalds locations in the Ottawa Valley relish the opportunity to come out on top.
Containers will be set up in the lobby so guests can drop off non-perishables and any cash donations can be handed directly to the manager on duty, but you don’t have to worry about that if you’re in a hurry.
This food drive is the first of it’s kind for McDonalds locations in the Ottawa Valley, and is something Rakinic hopes can continue going forward.
