It will be a night to remember at the Pembroke Memorial Centre this Sunday, Oct. 20 when the community comes together to support Walk for Her and breast cancer awareness.
The Pembroke Lumber Kings game versus the Hawkesbury Hawks will also have a very special guest on hand to drop the puck at 6:45 p.m. – breast cancer survivor Jess Schoenfeldt.
Organizer Lana Gorr explains that Walk for Her is a local initiative that gets an assist from the entire hockey family, including coaches, officials, sponsors and hockey fans.
They’re seeking community support this Sunday, she explains.
Get out to the game, bring some friends, wear pink!
Buckets will be passed during second intermission, explains Gorr.
Organizers say the goal is to inspire hope and courage for those who are living with cancer and moving past cancer. One in eight women and one in 934 women will be affected by breast cancer.
Funds raised will help support the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation.
