With Canadian Small Business Week looking at success within the community, who wouldn’t be better to talk to than Melissa Marquardt Manager of Economic Development, Tourism and Enterprise. There are three departments that are geared towards helping future business owners, entrepreneurs, organizations to build their business and offer guidance.
The departments are Economic Development, Enterprise Renfrew County and Ottawa Valley Tourism Association (OVTA), all three services are offered to any business/entrepreneurs within the Ottawa Valley. Marquardt tells myFM that the OVTA offers training workshops throughout the year with a few training dates coming up at the end of October and beginning of November regarding how businesses can learn how to increase their online presence, learning about AI in the tourism industry, marketing and so much more. she goes into detail how the Economic Development side of things are their as a guide and a support system.
Marquardt expressed the importance of small businesses, especially in the Ottawa Valley and how they make up a big portion in the economy.
