The Township of Laurentian Valley and the City of Pembroke joined forces once again for their 5th Annual Spooky Movie Night at the Skylight Drive-In on Saturday, October 5. The event featured two spooky films: Hotel Transylvania 3 (2018) and Beetlejuice (2024).
This year’s movie night attracted an impressive turnout, with 200 carloads bringing nearly 450 children to enjoy the festivities. Organizers expressed gratitude to the sponsors who helped make the event a success.
Key sponsors included Furniture King, The Farmstead Weddings & Events, ComBEtek Multimedia, Precision Textiles, Bradley Law, Custom Draperies, Reiche Law, Leach & Kuehl Professional Corporation, City of Pembroke Councillor Kuehl, and Kitchissippi Productions, who supported the Trick or Treat bags.
Prizes for the pumpkin carving contest were provided by Hugli’s Blueberry Ranch, Canex Plaza Chiropractic Clinic, and Town and Country Men’s Shop.
The event featured a popcorn giveaway sponsored by Roseburg, Sheppard & Gervais Barristers & Solicitors, and Integrated Health Centre, allowing attendees to enjoy 500 bags of popcorn along with treat bags and prizes for the pumpkin contest.
The winners of the pumpkin carving contest were:
- Most Spooky Pumpkin: Clare McLeese for her Mummy pumpkin
- Most Creative Pumpkin: Kayson Savage for his Face Off pumpkin
- Judge’s Favourite Pumpkin: Brayson Cartwright and John Britz for their Minions pumpkin
Additionally, the event served a charitable purpose, raising $1,118 for St. Joseph’s Food Bank, along with numerous food donations. Organizers thanked everyone who attended and contributed to the community effort.
