Do you like big bucks and you cannot lie? Well, Gourley’s Outdoors has just the contest for you.
Registrations for the very popular Big Buck and Doe Contest are pouring in and owner/operator Keith Gourley says the event has consistently grown since it began some 17 years ago – last year’s contest raised $17,000 for Hospice Renfrew!
The contest runs during gun season – Nov. 4-17 – but participants must sign up by Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. Registration costs $10.
Gourley tells us how to get involved and says there are multiple categories and a wealth of prizes available to win.
In terms of why it’s important to raise funds for an organization like Hospice Renfrew, Gourley says giving back has always been a priority. He says many people are surprised to learn that no government funds go to Hospice Renfrew, a facility that provides a vital service.
There is never any hesitation for sponsors, hunters or the greater community to support the cause, he said.
A highlight of the contest is the Backyard Gourmet BBQ and Bake Sale happening Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., which raises funds for the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Oncology Unit.
Looking ahead to upcoming hunting season, Gourley has some simple advice.
