How could anyone expect a call like the one Barry’s Bay resident Edgar Lucas got last week?
Lucas was just about to hit the road that afternoon when the Executive Director for the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation, Erin Gienow, dropped the news that he was the lucky person drawn in the 52nd and final week of their Catch the Ace Lottery.
With no other options left on the board, Lucas caught the Ace of Spades by default and was invited to join foundation staff to celebrate the $479,830 jackpot during a check presentation on Wednesday, October 30th.
Lucas proved to be a deserving winner during the initial call, revealing that he’s been exceptionally loyal to supporting the Foundation’s Catch the Ace over the years.
Incorporated in 2001, the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation works with St. Francis Memorial Hospital, the Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care program, and Valley Manor Nursing Home to fundraise for medical equipment and services based on the long-term plans for the healthcare needs of the community.
