The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment has charged an SUV driver following a serious collision on Mary Street in Pembroke. On October 28, a 78-year-old man from Pembroke was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm under the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 16.
The collision occurred on September 30, involving the SUV and two motorcycles. A 37-year-old male motorcycle driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital by paramedics before being airlifted to a regional trauma center. A 37-year-old female motorcycle passenger also suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. Fortunately, the 32-year-old male driver of the second motorcycle was not injured. The SUV driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) team assisted with the investigation. Mary Street was closed between MacKay Street and Church Street for about seven hours following the incident.
