As school buses returned to the roads on October 28, one driver is now off the route following a collision in Pembroke. The incident occurred just before 4:00 p.m. on October 30 at the intersection of Pembroke Street East and William Street.
Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment responded to the scene, where a northbound school bus collided with a minivan crossing Pembroke Street East. At the time of the crash, there were 14 elementary school-aged students on the bus, but thankfully, all were medically cleared by Renfrew County Paramedics. The occupants of the minivan were also unharmed.
The 66-year-old school bus driver from Pembroke has been charged with failing to yield to traffic on a highway under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). The minivan was towed from the scene, and an investigation is ongoing.
