November 3rd marks one year since the hit-and-run death of Steven Tate. His body was found on November 8, 2023, near Highway 15, close to Smiths Falls. Steven, 34, had been reported missing earlier that day.
Detective Inspector Marty McConnell from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) urges anyone with information to come forward. “We believe someone holds the key to finding the person responsible for Steven Tate’s death. Please contact us if you saw or heard anything,” he said.
Authorities are looking for a dark-colored hatchback or sedan, possibly a Mazda, with damage to the front passenger side. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction. A billboard near the site where Steven’s body was found aims to prompt witnesses to share any details they remember.
The Lanark County OPP Crime Unit continues to investigate with support from various OPP teams. Anyone with information should contact the Lanark County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or report online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca. The community hopes that someone will come forward as the anniversary approaches.
