The Canadian Federation of Independent Business is very concerned about the impact a strike at Canada Post could have on local small businesses.
Jasmin Guénette, VP of National Affairs says small businesses rely on the national mail service to send packages, invoices, and receive payments.
The Federation says 79% of small businesses rely on Canada Post services to do business. Guenette says that’s especially important as the busiest shopping season of the year arrives.
Three quarters of small businesses said they will be negatively affected by a work stoppage at Canada Post. Guenette says they are optimistic, but hope for intervention if the mail stops.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business is asking that both parties to negotiate in good faith and reach a quick resolution for the sake of Canadian small businesses and consumers alike.
