It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elisabeth Theresia Hemming (nee Loeffler) on November 13, 2024, at the age of 96. She passed peacefully in the Renfrew Victoria Hospital surrounded by family after a courageous battle with the sequela of old age.
Born on August 15, 1928, in Balk, Germany, Elisabeth was the daughter of Emil and Theresia (nee Funk) Loeffler.
Elisabeth was an incredible wife to her husband, Dennis (pre-deceased in 1977) for nearly 30 years, but he passed when their youngest was just 10. Elisabeth then solo raised their eight children, George (Linda), Robert (Janet), late Brian, Susan (Morley) Hass, Monica (Peter) Rorvik, Christopher (Tina), Maryanna (John Page), and Paul (Andrea Stellmach).
She is survived by these children and her cherished grandchildren, Shelley (Frank) Gorenc, David (Liz), Jonathan (Diane), Annabelle, Eva (Jacob) Friesen, Claire, Ernest (Dana) Hass, Elisabeth (Jean-Rene Lavallee), Tia, Sabrina, and her beloved great-grandchildren, Anna, Austyn, Arthur, Ben, Bedivere, and Katrina. Elisabeth was excited to know there were more on the way this year. There were also many loved extra children in Elisabeth’s life, especially Krista, Mary, and Stacey.
She was preceded in death by her loving sisters Traudel (Georges) David, Rosemary (Eugene) Wiatzka, Rita, and Gisella (Horst) Sommer.
Final arrangements were entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 15th, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James the Less Catholic Church, Eganville at 11:00 a.m.. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Esmonde. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice or plant something to remember her by, or that you take a walk in the forest near you.
