A 43-year-old man from Pembroke, Ontario, is facing multiple charges following a drug seizure by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on November 6. The arrest occurred after a search warrant was executed at a property on the 300 block of Mary Street in Pembroke. The OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, and Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, conducted the operation. During the search, police seized suspected hydromorphone and methamphetamine, along with a cell phone and approximately $6,000 in cash.
As a result of the investigation, Brent Derion, a man with no fixed address, has been charged with several offenses under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). These charges include possession of a Schedule I substance for trafficking (hydromorphone), possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine), possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime (over $5,000), failure to comply with a probation order, and two counts of breach of recognizance.
Derion was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until his next appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 13, 2024. The OPP continues to prioritize efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, reinforcing their commitment to public safety and crime prevention.
