Water levels and flows along the main stem of the Ottawa River are currently above average for this time of year, following above-normal precipitation in the northern part of the basin over the past two weeks. As rainfall runoff makes its way downstream, water levels and flows are expected to remain above average in most locations for the next few days.
While water levels are stabilizing upstream of Lake Coulonge, they are still rising in other areas of the river. Officials expect this increase to continue for a few more days before levels and flows begin to return to seasonal values across the river.
Residents and communities along the Ottawa River are advised to stay informed of changing conditions, as water levels may fluctuate in the coming days. Stay away from river banks that the water is close to. However, overall, levels and flows are expected to stabilize and return to typical seasonal values shortly according to the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board.
