The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment responded to 30 domestic disputes during the week of November 1-7. Several of these incidents led to arrests and charges. On the evening of November 1, officers responded to a report of a spousal assault at a residence in the Whitewater Region. Following the investigation, a 60-year-old man from South Stormont, Ontario, was charged with assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 9.
In the early morning of November 3, OPP responded to a domestic dispute in Pembroke. As a result, a 20-year-old man from Pembroke was arrested and charged with assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and failure to comply with an undertaking. The accused was released and will appear in court on December 3.
Later on November 4, officers in the Township of Laurentian Valley (TLV) investigated two separate incidents—the first involved damage to a residence during a domestic dispute. A 24-year-old man from TLV was charged with mischief related to the domestic incident. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 25. In a second incident, a 26-year-old man with no fixed address was charged with spousal assault following a report of intimate partner violence. He will appear in court on December 3.
On November 5, two domestic incidents were reported. In Pembroke, a 17-year-old youth was charged with two counts of failure to comply with a sentence and forcible confinement. The accused was released and appeared in Youth Court in Pembroke on November 14. Later that morning, in Madawaska Valley Township, officers began investigating a case of intimate partner violence that involved sexual assault and property damage. A 25-year-old man from the Township of Brudenell, Lyndoch, and Raglan was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of mischief related to domestic violence. The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear in court on January 15.
Finally, on the evening of November 6, officers responded to another domestic dispute in Laurentian Valley. A 32-year-old man from TLV was arrested and charged with assault, mischief, and forcible confinement. The accused was released and will appear in court on December 10.
