The holiday season isn’t always an easy one—especially for those who have a complicated relationship with food.
That was dietitian Emily Szatrowski, who sees many people coming to her for help during this festive season.
While Christmastime is a joyful period for many, it isn’t for everyone.
Szatrowski says many people know what is coming: lots of food and temptation at the dinner table and in the lunchroom at work. She suggests getting into the right headspace ahead of time.
While you should go into the season with that mindset, she also notes you can plan ahead to give yourself other options to manage your emotions.
Finally, if you do end up “caving in” and having an unhealthy meal, or too much of something, realize it’s just one meal and not the end of the world.
