The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a hit-and-run incident in the parking lot of a business in Laurentian Valley Township on November 20.
Around 7:00 p.m., a motor vehicle struck a pedestrian in the parking lot of a large retail store on the 1100 block of Pembroke Street East. Fortunately, the pedestrian was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.
The vehicle involved in the collision is described as a grey or silver sedan with Ontario license plates. The driver is believed to be an elderly female with short grey hair, wearing glasses, and about 5’5” tall. After the collision, the vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene.
Police believe the vehicle may have sustained damage to the hood and windshield, and an unrelated dent with blue paint was noted on the rear. Authorities also mentioned a dog in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
A witness to the event reportedly captured photos of the vehicle and driver. The OPP is asking for this witness to come forward, along with anyone who may have information regarding the collision.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-732-3332. To remain anonymous, tips can be submitted through Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.valleytips.ca.
The OPP continues to investigate the incident and urges the public to help bring the responsible driver to justice.
