The Board of Directors of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Vera Etches as its new President and CEO, effective March 3rd, 2025.
A release on the CHEO website says that Etches’ reputation, experience and success in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic were key factors in the selection.
The advisory notes “her leadership of a major healthcare organization with broad community reach has prepared her well for the challenges of leading a pediatric health centre with a focus on connected care.”
Dr. Lindy Samson, the current interim President and CEO, will continue in this role until Dr. Etches starts her new position next March.
Etches has served as the Medical Officer of Health for Ottawa Public Health since April 2018.
