The County of Renfrew Department of Public Works and Engineering has announced that all planned construction projects for the 2024 season have been successfully completed. This marks the end of a productive year for the department, which has worked diligently to improve local infrastructure for residents and businesses.
In total, over 71 kilometers of roads have been rehabilitated or reconstructed, significantly improving travel and safety throughout the County. Additionally, 15 County structures, including bridges and other vital infrastructure, were either rehabilitated or replaced.
A major highlight this year is the completion of 16 kilometers of the Algonquin Trail, a popular recreational route. Work is also underway on another 36.5 kilometers of the trail, which is expected to be completed in the near future, offering more outdoor opportunities for the community.
This year’s successful completion of numerous projects is part of a larger capital program, which also included regular road maintenance, the processing of permits, and municipal consents, alongside considerable administrative work. The County acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the Public Works & Engineering staff in making this year’s projects a success.
