Those lines are dropped at many gatherings over the next couple of weeks. While some can shrug them off, for others, it’s a punch to the gut.
Dietitian Emily Szatrowski says many people struggle with their self-image and relationship with food, and sometimes social gatherings can make this worse.
If you’re in a situation where you’re being questioned about how much or what you’re eating, and it makes you uncomfortable, Szatrowski has some suggestions.
Szatrowski also notes it would be better if such comments weren’t made at all.
Everyone has a different view of themselves, and sometimes it’s best to avoid commenting on things like food servings or what someone is eating.
