Environment Canada has issued winter weather travel advisories and snowfall warnings as a major snowstorm approaches. Heavy snow is expected to begin this afternoon and continue into the evening, with total accumulations ranging from 10 to 20 cm. The weather agency warns that heavy snow will lead to poor visibility and hazardous driving conditions, with snow-covered and icy roads making travel dangerous.
While the snow will ease to flurries later at night, there is also a risk of freezing drizzle, creating additional hazards for drivers.
Environment Canada is still monitoring where the heaviest snow will fall, but it urges motorists to prepare for potentially difficult travel. Snowfall warnings are in effect across much of Eastern Ontario, while southwestern Quebec and Ottawa are under travel advisories.
Drivers are advised to adjust their plans accordingly, as conditions will be hazardous on roads throughout the region. Keep up with the latest weather updates and exercise caution if heading out on the roads.
