If you’ve been enjoying the World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa, you can thank in part the expert work of a local business.
Eastern Rink Services owner Spencer Hill calls providing the line and logo painting for the world-level tournament at TD Place a job worth making space for during a busy winter season.
Hill and Eastern Rink Services have provided ice pad painting for every level of hockey from junior to professional and both across the Ottawa Valley and into parts of Northern and Southern Ontario.
However, it didn’t take much convincing to get his team of painters on board with the chance to show their work off to colleagues and spectators on global level.
The pressure was certainly on to get it right, and a couple of months of planning were needed to get everything in place for a job that Hill says was approached with the same level of care as any of the over 100 rinks they paint in a year.
Having a chance to reflect, he says the finished product at TD Place ranks among the best his team has put together.
The World Juniors conclude this weekend at the Canadian Tire Centre, with the last game at TD Place held between Slovakia and Finland on Thursday night.
