The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has issued a boil water advisory for users of the Beachburg Drinking Water System following a Wednesday night structure fire and water main break that led to a loss of system pressure.
“Water system users in the Village of Beachburg are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes (e.g. drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods, and making ice),” reads a Whitewater Region Township notice.
The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) isolated the watermain break and repair crews have been dispatched to repair the watermain.
“The boil water advisory will remain in place until rescinded by RCDHU once two consecutive sets of samples are taken 24 hours apart that produce negative results,” reads the notice.
The township, in collaboration with the Ontario Clean Water Agency, is working with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit regarding the boil water advisory.
Further updates will be provided through the township’s website and social media channels.
