The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding the public to be cautious when it comes to ice safety this winter.
“If you don’t know how thick the ice is, don’t venture out. You’d be putting your life and potentially the lives of first responders at risk,” reads a warning from the OPP. “If your snowmobile or ATV go through the ice, you are responsible for timely and safe removal.”
Additionally, police remind the public to please keep pets away from ice-covered or fast-flowing waterways.
