Whitewater Region firefighters responded to a New Year’s Day fire that left one of the home’s occupants with minor burns.
Fire Chief Jonathan McLaren reports that crews were called to the home on Waterview Road around 2:30 p.m. Jan. 1.
About 15 firefighters from stations one and two responded, containing the fire to one bedroom.
One occupant suffered minor burns and was treated on scene by Renfrew County Paramedics.
“Crews remained on scene for roughly two hours extinguishing the fire, performing salvage and overhaul operations and investigating the cause,” said McLaren in an email interview.
The fire is not suspicious.
Fire crews also responded to a vehicle rollover on Chenaux Road and later in the day a major barn fire on the Zion Line between Sturgeon Mountain and Beachburg roads.
