A local motorist is facing multiple charges after a single-vehicle collision in the Upper Ottawa Valley. On the afternoon of January 15, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a rollover crash on Highway 41 near Micksburg Road in North Algona-Wilberforce Township. The driver, 62-year-old Donald Schofield of Bonnechere Valley Township, was not seriously injured.
During the investigation, a Roadside Screening Device was used, and Schofield was taken to the OPP detachment for further testing. His blood alcohol concentration was found to be more than three times the legal limit.
As a result, Schofield has been charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. Schofield has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 18.
