Several Criminal Code charges have been laid following a family dispute in Madawaska Valley Township on January 19. The incident took place around 9:00 a.m. when members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a physical altercation between family members.
Upon investigation, police found that the altercation also involved property damage, threats, and an object being thrown at the victim. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.
A 27-year-old man from Ottawa was arrested and charged with multiple offences, including assault, assault with a weapon, unlawfully entering a dwelling, mischief for damaging property, and two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
