Winter weather is in full force in Pembroke this week, and the City of Pembroke’s dedicated operations team is working hard to clear the roads and sidewalks. The city’s crew of 11 full-time staff and five plow trucks have been busy over the past day managing 214 lane kilometres of road and 66 kilometres of sidewalk.
As the snow continues to fall, the team is focused on pushing back snow to create space for upcoming storms, ensuring roads remain safe for drivers and pedestrians. Without clearing this extra space, the roads could narrow, creating unsafe conditions for the public.
The City of Pembroke is asking residents for patience as snow removal efforts continue. Due to the amount of snow expected, clearing sidewalks will take time. In mid-next week, the Operations Department plans to remove snowbanks in the downtown area and work on clearing sightlines across the city.
The City appreciates everyone’s cooperation and understanding as they tackle these winter weather challenges.
