
A driver has been charged following a single-vehicle collision in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) area. The incident took place on March 3, at approximately 7:30 p.m., when an off-duty Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer noticed a vehicle in a ditch on Highway 60 in North Algona Wilberforce (NAW) Township. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The driver, 38-year-old Joshua Lightbody from Admaston-Bromley Township, was taken into custody after the crash. He underwent testing at the OPP detachment. As a result of the testing, Lightbody has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
In addition to the charges, Lightbody’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 3.
