It’s International Women’s Day today on Saturday March 8th, and right across the world women of all walks of life are taking the day to reflect on past accomplishments and future goals.
The Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted a luncheon at The Butcher’s Wife restaurant in Pembroke Friday in honour of many local women who had a chance to gather and share stories of triumph, and some of hardship leading up to today’s annual observance.
Among the many local women present was myFM General Station Manager Melissa Siegel, who said she was honoured to have been invited to the gathering and was very moved by the positive and vibrant energy of so many of her peers in business.
Melissa sums up her experience this way:
“This special day is a reminder of the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere, as well as the ongoing journey toward equality. Grateful for the conversations and connections that continue to drive positive change!”
Melissa looks forward to next year’s gathering and hopes that positive steps toward gender equity keep coming to the fore throughout the year.
