The County of Renfrew is advancing plans for a new Paramedic Base to improve 911 response times in the City of Pembroke and surrounding municipalities, including Laurentian Valley, North Algona Wilberforce, Whitewater Region, and Petawawa. The County has purchased a property at 330 Boundary Road East in Pembroke for the new base, which will replace the current location near Pembroke Regional Hospital, where the Paramedic Service has been operating for over 30 years.
The redevelopment of the 10,500-square-foot building will begin in early 2025, with completion expected by late 2026. The project, managed by the County’s Real Estate Division, will create an innovative space for the Paramedic Service and enhance its ability to deliver services such as the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre (RC VTAC) clinic, remote access response programs, and support operations across the region.
The new site’s proximity to the County Administration Building will also allow for better collaboration with other County departments. The Horwitz family, previous owners of the property, expressed their excitement about the building’s new purpose, knowing it will have a lasting positive impact on the community.
This new project follows the success of the Paramedic Base in Eganville, which opened in November 2024. That base, located at the former O’Grady Brothers Limited Garage, features 2,500 square feet of office space, as well as a large garage for Paramedic Service vehicles, shower facilities, a kitchen, dining area, and meeting rooms.
