
A Laurentian Valley Township resident is facing impaired driving charges following an incident in the Upper Ottawa Valley. On March 21, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in Pembroke. Officers located the vehicle and driver on Pembroke Street West. A Roadside Screening Device was used, and the 60-year-old driver, was transported to the detachment where it was confirmed their blood alcohol level was more than two and a half times the legal limit.
As a result, they was charged with two Criminal Code offences: operation while impaired by alcohol and operation with a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. Their driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released and is scheduled to appear in court in Pembroke on April 14.
