The City of Pembroke’s Parks & Recreation Department is excited to partner with Bogie’s Bar once again for the Jim Sloan Memorial Ball Hockey Tournament. This annual event will take place on May 24th, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Pembroke Memorial Centre.
The tournament honors Jim Sloan, a community leader who played a key role in establishing Bogie’s Bar, organizing community events, and serving with the Pembroke Police. Jim passed away in 2018 after a lengthy illness, leaving behind a lasting legacy that continues to impact the community.
The tournament will feature three divisions: junior (ages 7-12), intermediate (ages 13-15), and adult (ages 16+). Each game will be 20 minutes of 4-on-4 ball hockey with goalies, and teams must have a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 10 players. Registration fees are $130 per adult team, $105 per intermediate team, and $80 per junior team. The registration deadline is May 16th at 4:00 p.m., and each team is guaranteed three games.
Teams will compete for the prestigious Hockey Town Cup, celebrating Pembroke’s hockey history, along with a prize bag for each player on the winning team in each division. Proceeds from the tournament will go to BGC Renfrew County to support local youth sports initiatives.
To register, team captains or parents must sign up on the City of Pembroke’s online booking system and enroll their team in the appropriate division. Registration is also available at the Parks and Recreation Office.
