
A wanted individual is now in custody after being arrested in Pembroke on April 3. Members of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located the suspect at a residence on Esther Street. With the help of patrol officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment, the arrest was made.
The accused, Ian Hopper, a 49-year-old from Petawawa, was wanted in connection with several criminal investigations, including failing to stop for police in January, a theft at a grocery store in February, and thefts from a retail and convenience store in March.
Hopper is facing several charges under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act, including driving while under suspension, flight from a police officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, three counts of theft under $5000, and seven counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Hopper was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 8.
