The Town of Petawawa is inviting the public to attend a special parade on Tuesday, April 15, to mark the 80th anniversary of the Commemoration of the Liberation of Leeuwarden.
The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Kinhut Parking Lot, located at 16 Civic Centre Road in Petawawa. Guests are asked to park in the Civic Centre parking lot.
The parade will be led by the Royal Canadian Dragoons and will include a special appearance by the Mayor of Leeuwarden, a city in the Netherlands that was liberated by Canadian forces during the Second World War.
The Town of Petawawa and the Royal Canadian Dragoons are proud to co-host this meaningful event. Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend, show their support, and honour this important moment in history.
This commemoration highlights the strong historical ties between Canada and the Netherlands and celebrates the bravery and sacrifices made during the liberation efforts 80 years ago.
