VALLEY VOTES: Danilo Velasquez says community is the heart of the Greens’ core beliefs

Our local Green candidate is Danilo Velasquez. He came to us 37 years ago from the verdant land of Nicaragua.

There’s a motivation that sees him as the standard bearer for his colour of choice.

If Velasquez were to qualify his statement on supporting “all” Canadians, that’s also something his experiences here and elsewhere has taught him.

Maybe so, but trees are what help provide the planet’s oxygen- and Danilo has that covered too.

Save the Grove Again has had its difficulties getting candidates, both in the recent Provincial and now with Canada’s Federal Election to commit to endorsing its concerns over the future of the Old Growth Forest, but not so with Danilo.

Algonquin-Renfrew-Pembroke is a big constituency, with many ecosystems worthy of sustaining.

Not only are there six other candidates in the race, Danilo is also butting heads with tradition.

Velasquez touts his credentials as a community activist as a reason he should capture your vote.

He calls on the electorate to embrace him, just as he embraces the panorama of human experience.
