The Upper Ottawa Valley Heritage Centre is excited to invite the community to its 13th annual Victorian Tea, set for Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11. This special event promises to be a memorable afternoon filled with elegance and tradition as families come together to celebrate the important women in their lives.
Guests will enjoy a live woodwind performance by Zephyr, adding a magical touch to the tea experience. Attendees will also indulge in a variety of delicious treats, including sandwiches, scones, and desserts, all while sipping tea in a charming, historical setting.
There will be two seating times to choose from: 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. For those wanting a more immersive experience, limited seating is available in four beautifully decorated Victorian rooms: the Parlour, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Bedroom. Each room offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the tea surrounded by historic artifacts, with only four seats available per room at each sitting.
In celebration of Mother’s Day, guests will receive a lovely carnation as a thank-you for attending.
Ticket prices are as follows:
-
OVHS Members: $15
-
Non-members: $20
-
Special Seating (Victorian Room): $25
Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. They can be bought at the museum office (Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) with cash, debit, credit, or e-transfer to curator@uovheritagecentre.ca.
The museum thanks the dedicated students from Fellowes High School and Bishop Smith Catholic High School for volunteering at the event, and also appreciates the volunteers preparing sandwiches. The Heritage Centre is still looking for a few more helpers to join the sandwich-making crew. Interested individuals can call 613-735-0517.
This year’s Victorian Tea is generously sponsored by J.G. Fitzgerald & Sons Ltd., whose support helps purchase necessary supplies for the event. Proceeds from the tea will go toward funding critical building repairs at the Heritage Centre, including replacing damaged roofs on the historic pioneer home and schoolhouse.
The Upper Ottawa Valley Heritage Centre is grateful for the support of businesses like J.G. Fitzgerald & Sons Ltd. Their contribution plays a vital role in preserving the history and culture of the region.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful Mother’s Day event! Dress in your finest tea attire and join us for an afternoon of tradition and celebration. For more information, call 613-735-0517 or visit the museum’s Facebook page for updates.
