The Pembroke Royal Canadian Legion has received the City’s approval for a commemorative crosswalk to be installed at the intersection of Mackay and Pembroke St W adjacent to the cenotaph.
Last night at Pembroke Council the motion was carried to move forward with the project which will see a total cost of approximately $10,000, half of which the City has committed to providing.
The final design of the crosswalk has yet to be agreed upon but it has been determined that the current plan meets with all necessary city codes. The Legion hopes to have the crosswalk installed in time for November’s observance of Remembrance Day.
