
24-year-old resident of Port Dover, has been charged with impaired driving following an investigation by the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment in Pembroke.
On April 16, around 10:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot on Pembroke Street East. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted, followed by further evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) at the detachment.
As a result, Jayde Slezsak was charged with one Criminal Code offence: operation while impaired by drugs.
The accused’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days. The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. Slezsak was released and is scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 5.
The OPP reminds the public that driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a serious offence that puts lives at risk. Police encourage everyone to plan ahead and never drive impaired.
