The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking for the public’s help as they investigate a suspicious house fire in Pembroke.
On April 23, at around 11:00 p.m., officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment responded to a report of a fire at a vacant home on Bronx Street. The Pembroke Fire Department arrived at the scene and was able to control the fire, which caused only minor damage to the building.
After a preliminary investigation, police have deemed the fire suspicious. The UOV OPP Crime Unit, along with a Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO), is now actively investigating the incident.
Police are reaching out to the community for assistance. Anyone who lives or works in the area and has security camera footage or dashcam video from that time is asked to contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-732-3332. People can also share tips anonymously through Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting www.valleytips.ca.
The investigation is ongoing, and police will share more updates as they become available.
