The Town of Petawawa is growing. Ground work has started on a new 96 unit subdivision.
The 11.8 acre site at the intersection of Winston Avenue and Town Centre Boulevard will see 23 new blocks with 16 blocks indented for new townhouses and a dedicated “tot lot” area. The site currently consists of mostly sand piles. Preliminary plans were presented to council in July of 2021.
Karen Cronier, the Director of Planning and Development for the Town of Petawawa, tells myFM the developer has obtained an Official Plan Amendment to allow for residential use on the property. Cronier says a zoning by-law and site plan approval are still needed for the blocks of townhouses. Cronier expects it to take three to four years for the subdivision to be completed.
Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet says it’s nice to see the community continue to grow.
The Mayor says entrepreneurs and developers are seeing Petawawa as a good place to do business.
Recent development in the area includes a Tim Hortons and Harvey’s, a Remax office and the Marriott hotel. An 8.15 acre parcel of land has also been sold to Metro, but not been developed.
