The County of Renfrew has started transitioning COVID-19 testing clinics to clinical assessment centres.
The Director of Emergency Services and Chief of the Paramedic Services with the County of Renfrew, Michael Nolan, provided an update to health committee earlier this month (April 13th, 2022).
Nolan told members of the health committee they have clinical assessment centres set up at the Shady Nook Recreation Centre in Laurentian Valley, at the Grove in Arnprior and are working on one in Cobden.
The Chief Paramedic for the County of Renfrew says patients who test positive for COVID-19 will be provided an assessment to determine their eligibility in receiving antivirals to treat the virus.
He adds this is an important next step in the evolution of in person and virtual care in the County of Renfrew.
Nolan says they are looking for space in the community that could used for these assessment centres that are staffed by paramedics and medical receptionists.
