A new era in Petawawa will begin after the October municipal election. Bob Sweet has spent over half his life on municipal council, the bulk of that time as Mayor, but he tells myFM news that he will not seek re-election this term.
He goes on to say that the town has come along way since he first started.
Looking back on his career, he’s proud of the partnership the town has built with the Garrison.
Sweet also mentions that he’s confident that he’s leaving the town is in good shape and debt free. He’s also thankful for the lifelong friendships and connections that have developed over the years. The current Mayor says he’s thankful for his time serving the community and looks forward to the continued legacy in the next generation. Sweet goes on to say the decision wasn’t made lightly and involved his family. He says his phone will always be on for whomever will be filling the Mayor’s chair and looking for advice.
