Ron Gervais has been acclaimed as the next Mayor in the City of Pembroke. Gervais was first elected to council in 2010 and has served as the Deputy Mayor. He thanks local residents for their support over the last three terms.
He says being acclaimed means residents value what he brings to council and wanted to see him there without having to campaign.
Infrastructure and economic development are top priorities for the incoming Mayor in Pembroke.
Gervais says he’s also working on developing a community safety and well-being plan as chair of the police services board and is hoping to address affordable housing, drug addiction and mental health challenges in Pembroke.
Gervais will replace Mike LeMay as the next Mayor for the City of Pembroke after the fall municipal election. LeMay has served as the Mayor in Pembroke for the last two terms after he was first elected in 2014 and is not running for reelection.
While Gervais is running unopposed for Mayor, there are 15 candidates running for a seat on council in Pembroke.
